Provisions
Reuse in future publications and other projects
The author retains the right:
- to use all or part of the content of the article in future works of the author, including lectures, textbooks, reviews and articles and press releases provided proper notice of the publisher's copyright is given;
- to reuse any portion of the work, without fee, in future works of the author's own, including books, lectures and presentations in all media, provided that the publisher's citation and notice of the copyright are included;
- to include the article in a thesis or dissertation;
Expanding into book form
The author retains the right:
- to expand the article into book-length form for publication;
- to reproduce contributions or extracts from the article in any printed volume (book or thesis);
Adaptation
The author retains the right:
- to revise, adapt, prepare derivative works, present orally or distribute the article provided that all such use is for the personal non-commercial benefit of the author (and is consistent with any prior contractual agreement between the author and his/her employer);
- to prepare derivative publications based on the article, including books or book chapters, journal papers, and magazine articles, provided that publication of a derivative work occurs subsequent to the official date of publication of the journal publication in which the article appears;
- to revise, adapt, prepare derivative works, present orally, or distribute or transmit to colleagues, the author's own article, provided that copyright credit is given to the source and the publisher, that recipients are informed that they may not further disseminate or copy the article, and that all such use is for the personal non-commercial benefit of the author and recipient (and is consistent with any prior contractual agreement between the undersigned and/or co-authors and their employers);
Republish
The author retains the right:
- to reproduce portions of the author's own work and to republish his/her article in not-for-profit formats or venues;
